Igor Martinho is a 29 years old Chef who, despite his young age, has become a reference in Portuguese cuisine. In 2002 he decided to fulfill his dream of becoming a professional chef.
He left his quiet village of Arrouquelas-Rio Maior, to attend the Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo at Estoril where he began writing a history of success, which in just 7 years led him to win the award for chef of the year in 2009.
His career brought him to the Marriott Hotel, the Penha Longa Hotel and Le Meridien. He was Head of Quinta dos Frades restaurant in Lisbon, the Chef de Cuisine of the Hemingway marina of Cascais, and did internships in major establishments such as the Hangar 7 in Salzburg and Noma in Copenhagen.
Igor Martinho enjoys cooking for friends and loves traditional Portuguese cuisine with a twist of modern sophistication. He is inspired by the colorful and aroma rich traditional markets. Fish dishes are his favorites.
Right now, he is responsible for his restaurants, the Rockalot Acqua Bay at Setubal and the MAELUISA at Arrouquelas, works in the gourmet magazine A Pimenta and is a food consultant.
He hosted some TV programs and was one of the participants of the RTP TOP CHEF program.
Igor Martinho is the head responsible for the CRYSTAL brand, the Espaço Casa stores and the vegetables company ELS.
